The average American can not understand most of what you listed unfortunately (or European too as a matter of fact).. we are in a new age where sound policy decision making is not valued.. certainly not L/T planning. Sad truth.

My only dissenting view is on immigration.. People view immigration as broken.. perception is reality and the democrats need to work on putting forth laws that lead to a drastic decline in illegal immigration. Perhaps a points based system for skilled immigrants?

That's what the bill Trump sabotaged did. But if it means deporting long established immigrants, no, it's bad for real income of the non-deportees and Harris is right to oppose it.

Progressive consumption tax sounds good though at this point I don't think we can pay down the deficit.

Sure we can. It's lower deadweight loss than not paying it down. Politics? Not my line of business. And some of the additional revenue should come from funding social insurance with a VAT instead of underfunding it with the wage tax.
